Good news from Brussels and The Hague: the Erasmus+ National Agency has awarded the ETHICAI application. SOML coordinates this new KA220 partnership for school education. The project starts on 1 November 2026 and runs for two years, until October 2028.
ETHICAI stands for Empowering Teachers for Holistic & Informed Competence in Artificial Intelligence and its Responsible and Ethical Use. At its core: equipping teachers to use AI consciously, ethically and in a pedagogically sound way, and helping schools make agreements about AI as an organisation.
What the project delivers
- A European AI Literacy Framework for teachers, based on a gap analysis in the five partner countries and thirty good practices.
- A Whole-School AI Governance Toolkit: practical guidance for schools to shape their own AI policy and agreements.
- A multilingual online learning platform with modules and digital badges, piloted in the partner schools.
- A transnational AI & Digital Ethics Hackathon, organised by SOML, in which at least eighteen teachers from all countries build classroom-ready prototypes together.
The partners
Alongside SOML: Eurodimensions and HR Consulta (Malta), Dideas (Spain), Kauno Simono Daukanto progimnazija (Lithuania) and Budapesti Műszaki SZC Egressy Gábor Technikum (Hungary). SOML has worked with several of them in earlier Erasmus+ projects.
The kick-off with all partners is planned for autumn 2026. Teachers at SOML schools who want to help shape AI in the classroom are warmly invited to get in touch. Read more on the ETHICAI project page.
