SOML is a member of CRES (Centre for Research and European Studies), a European network of organisations in education, research and innovation. On 22 June 2026 the network met online for two sessions.
The day opened with the second wake-up session, delivered by Artur Mazurek from network partner PAIZ: a short, thought-provoking morning meeting on a topical theme. This time it focused on artificial intelligence in education and in SMEs. The discussion centred on the gap between the rapid use of AI and the lack of training, and on how to create a safe environment to learn to work with AI.
In the General Board meeting CRES looked ahead. The network submitted a substantial number of new European project proposals, with attention to inclusion, digital transformation and citizenship in education. A new networking platform for members was presented, and new newsletters and webinars are planned.
The strategy for the coming years is clear. CRES aims to grow into a strong and sustainable European network. This includes working towards structural funding (such as the Erasmus+ operating grant) to strengthen its advocacy and governance, an active community of members that shares knowledge and projects through the new platform, and a clear thematic focus on inclusion, digital transformation, citizenship and future-oriented skills in education.
CRES is led by president Guido van Dijk, who also works at SOML, with general director Alessia Spatafora and vice-presidents Marianna Gevorski, David Bayona Cuallado and Katarzyna Mitrut. This gives SOML the network’s president in-house, making its link to this European network direct and strong.
