A system that waters by itself needs to know when to do so. That is why Wednesday brought a practical biology workshop at Wings Agora. How much light does lettuce need, and how much does a herb? How long until harvest, and what does that cost in energy if you produce the light yourself?
With that knowledge the teams went back to their own set-up and turned the biology into numbers: at what soil moisture does the valve open, how much light is enough, which temperature is still fine. Technology suddenly became very concrete, tied to what a plant actually needs.
Watch the day 3 video (9 minutes), filmed by our Turkish partner İTÜ MTAL.
