Tuesday was the day of the wiring. Teams connected ESP8266 microcontrollers to sensors for temperature, humidity, light and soil moisture, and linked them to a Raspberry Pi running Home Assistant. For some participants it was the first time they got a sensor working themselves; by the end of the day the first readings appeared on screen.
Every morning started with a short team meeting: what do we have, who picks up what, which problem do we solve first. After the work the group travelled to Fort Eben-Emael in Belgium, a visit just as much meant to get to know each other outside the classroom.
Watch the day 2 video (7 minutes), filmed by our Turkish partner İTÜ MTAL.
